3When these terms apply
These terms apply to every use of the platform. You find them at the bottom of every page.
For organisers the organiser terms apply as well, for conduct the house rules. Where they conflict, those prevail.
For the event itself the rules of the organiser and the venue apply too, such as the age limit and the house rules at the door. They are on the event page or with the organiser.
If you use an app from the App Store, Apple's terms for apps apply as well.
We may change these terms. We announce a substantive change at least 30 days ahead by e-mail or in the app, with what changes. If you do not agree, you can close your account before the change takes effect. A change never applies to tickets you already had. A clarification, or a change only in your favour, takes effect at once.
4Your account, 18+ and ID
Browsing needs no account. For anything social or anything that costs money you log in: "I'm going", inviting, chatting, reacting, liking, buying, reselling and passing tickets on.
You log in with your e-mail address and a six-digit code, with a passkey or with Apple. You can turn on two-factor authentication. You are responsible for your mailbox and your devices; share your codes with nobody.
You must be 18 or older. At your first login we ask for your date of birth, once. We do not check an ID document. If you enter a false date, we may void your account and your tickets. More on Age and safety.
The organiser checks your age at the door. Bring a valid ID. If you cannot show ID or are too young, the organiser may turn you away, even with a valid ticket, and you do not get your money back.
One person, one account. Your account cannot be transferred. You can delete it at any time in Settings.
5What you may and may not do
Not allowed in any case:
- hate, threats, discrimination, harassment and sexually explicit messages;
- spam, advertising and scams, such as offering tickets you do not have or asking to pay outside the platform;
- offering tickets on PartyPPL above the list price;
- photos of people who do not want that, of minors, or images you hold no rights to;
- automated scraping, bulk downloading or working around limits; organisers have the API;
- fake accounts, using someone else's account or getting round a suspension;
- anything that endangers the security or availability of the platform.
The full conduct rules are in the house rules. Security research is welcome under the rules on Security.
6Your content
What you post stays yours. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store it, resize it, show it and pass it to other users, as far as that is needed to run the platform. We do not sell your content and do not use it in ads.
The licence also covers the parties that run the platform for us, and only for that.
If you remove something, we stop showing it. Messages in a group chat or forum topic stay after you delete your account, in the name of "Verwijderd", so the conversation stays readable.
You guarantee that you hold the rights to what you post. Otherwise we may remove it.
7Intellectual property
The name PartyPPL, the logo, the design and the software are ours. Linking to us and writing about us is always fine.
The agenda as a whole is a database. Systematically copying substantial parts of it is not allowed. Organisers have the API, with its own rules in the organiser terms.
Posters, photos and site maps with an event come from the organiser, from their own site or from visitors. The rights stay with the rights holder. If you hold the rights and want something removed, we remove it; see the colophon.
Date, time, venue, price and line-up are facts. We state them, also when we read them elsewhere. We do not copy other people's texts. Where everything comes from is on Sources.
8Events and the information with them
Events come in four ways: organisers post them, visitors submit them, we import them from the public agendas of clubs, festivals and ticket platforms, and we fill in missing details, also with AI.
What organisers and visitors post goes past the agenda team, normally within 24 hours. Imported events go live automatically, with a filter on date, duplicates and whether it is nightlife. We correct afterwards.
We are not the organiser. Date, time, line-up, price, age limit and house rules can change. What is on the event page is not a guarantee; the organiser is leading.
Additions by AI are marked as such where money is involved: prices at other shops and resale markets, and token prices, are shown as an indication, with the source and the day they were seen. A site map found by AI only goes live after a person has approved it.
9PartyPPL's role
PartyPPL is a platform and intermediary. We are not the organiser, the venue or the publisher of the events you see here.
- What we are responsible for
- The ordering process, payment through Stripe, your ticket in the app and at the door, resale and transfer through PartyPPL, refunds on cancellation unless the organiser pays back itself, and passing on changes the organiser reports.
- What the organiser is responsible for
- Whether the event goes ahead, the programme, the price, the age limit, permits, safety, the house rules at the door and everything on the night itself.
- What you are responsible for
- What you post and whether the details you enter are correct.
- Tickets at another shop
- Under "Get tickets" we also link to the organiser's official shop, other shops and resale markets. There we are only a referrer: you buy from that party, under its terms.
- Tickets an organiser loads from their own shop
- You bought those at their shop. We keep the ticket in the app for them and scan it at the door; the shop and the organiser remain the seller.
- Pre-Buy
- There we act on your instructions and buy as the buyer at the shop; see the article on Pre-Buy.
Who you buy from. The organiser shown on the event page holds the event and sells the ticket. Organisers make their agreement with us as a business, so whoever sells tickets through us does so as a trader. We ask for their Chamber of Commerce number, or their VAT number, at verification; you get it from us on request.
Payments run through Stripe. We are not a bank or a payment institution.
For content from users and organisers we are a hosting service under the Digital Services Act. We do not review everything in advance, but act quickly once we know something is unlawful.
10Buying tickets
The organiser sells the ticket; PartyPPL sells it on their behalf. You make the purchase agreement for entry with the organiser. We handle ordering and payment.
- Service fee: € 0.99 per ticket plus 2% of the ticket amount after discount. Before you pay, you see the total including the fee; at payment it is a separate line "Servicekosten PartyPPL". That is the only thing we charge you on a ticket; for Pre-Buy the Pre-Buy fee from the article on it applies.
- Paying runs through Stripe, with iDEAL or with a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. We never see card details.
- Quantity: per order at most the maximum the organiser sets, 6 by default. The organiser's sale windows apply.
- Discount codes come off the ticket price. The service fee is calculated on the amount after discount.
- Name on the ticket: your account name by default. The organiser may ask whether it matches your ID.
- Your ticket is a QR code under Tickets, which also works without a signal if you opened it before. On an iPhone, iPad or Mac you can also add it to Apple Wallet. The confirmation mail says your tickets are ready; the QR is not in the mail.
- Valid is a ticket only once payment succeeded. If the event has been cancelled in the meantime, you get no ticket and your money back automatically.
Share your QR code with nobody. Whoever has it scanned first gets in; after that it no longer works.
Tickets elsewhere. Under "Get tickets" you see, next to our own sales, the organiser's official shop, other shops and resale markets such as TicketSwap, Tixel and Ticketmaster Resale, with an indicative price. If you buy there, you buy from that party and under its terms; we are not a party. A link to Ticketmaster may carry a partner code that earns us a fee. Your price does not change because of it.
11No cooling-off period for tickets
Online purchases usually come with a 14-day cooling-off period. For tickets to an event on a specific date it does not apply. That follows from article 6:230p(e) of the Dutch Civil Code: the exception for leisure services on a fixed date or in a fixed period. The service fee belongs to that purchase and falls under the same exception. The checkout screen says so too, above the pay button.
What does apply to you:
- Cancellation. If the event does not go ahead, you get your money back; see the next article.
- Our mistake. Charged twice, or your ticket does not work because of a fault on our side: we refund or make sure you still get in.
- Resale and transfer. If you cannot go, you can resell or pass on your ticket through PartyPPL.
This exception covers entry to an event on a specific date. For anything else we sell you, you do get 14 days to change your mind. At the moment the only other thing is Pre-Buy; how cooling-off works there is in the article on Pre-Buy.
12Cancelled, postponed and refunds
- Event cancelled
- Your tickets lapse and you get the full amount back, service fee included, automatically, the way you paid. It is usually on your account within 5 to 10 working days. You hear it in the app, by push notification and by e-mail.
- The organiser pays back itself
- Sometimes the organiser handles the refund itself. Your tickets lapse then too, the event page and the message you get say so, and the organiser is the one who pays you back. If that does not work out, mail us with your order number and we will help you.
- Event postponed
- Your tickets stay valid on the new date. You hear it in the app, by push notification and by e-mail. If you cannot make it, you can resell or pass on your ticket. Money back on postponement only if the organiser offers it.
- Line-up changed
- Not a cancellation and no right to a refund, unless the organiser decides otherwise.
- You cannot go yourself
- No right to a refund. You can resell or pass on the ticket.
- Refused at the door
- Because of your age, ID, behaviour or the house rules: you get nothing back. If you think it unfair, the organiser is the one to talk to.
Something wrong with a refund? Mail [email protected] with your order number. Everything in plain language, also about resale, Pre-Buy and double payments, is on Cancellations and refunds.
Refunding the ticket price is at the organiser's expense. We start it, but cannot guarantee that an organiser who goes bankrupt still has the money. Then we help you with what you need to hold them to account.
13Resale and transfer
- Reselling through PartyPPL
- With Put on resale you offer a ticket you bought through PartyPPL. The system sets the price: the list price of the ticket type, also if you bought with a discount. The buyer pays that price plus the service fee. You get the list price; the service fee you paid earlier is not refunded. Whoever is on the watchlist gets a message. As long as nobody has bought it, you take it back with Stop resale.
- Paying the seller
- We do that by hand at the moment, within 3 working days of the sale, as the notice at the sale says. The platform stores no bank account numbers; we ask for yours by e-mail when we need it.
- Passing on
- With Pass on you put a ticket, free and for good, in the name of a friend or of an e-mail address. If that address has no account yet, we create one. An Apple Wallet pass of yours then becomes void.
On resale and transfer the ticket gets a new code. The previous holder's QR code lapses at that moment: a screenshot, an offline copy or an Apple Wallet pass of that QR is refused at the door. The new holder finds the ticket with the new code under Tickets. So only buy a resold ticket through PartyPPL. Tickets an organiser loaded from another shop keep that shop's code.
Resale and transfer are not possible for a ticket that has already been scanned, is already for sale, belongs to a cancelled or past event, or that an organiser loaded from another shop.
On PartyPPL itself, including chats and the forum, you do not offer tickets above the list price. If you sell through another market, that market's rules and the organiser's apply.
14Pre-Buy: we buy your ticket
With Pre-Buy you instruct PartyPPL to buy a ticket for you for an event whose tickets are sold elsewhere, the moment the sale opens in the official shop. This is a service of PartyPPL itself; the organiser is not a party to it.
- What we do
- We buy by hand in the organiser's official shop, in the name or names you give, at the price the shop asks, within the shop's limit per order. We use no bots and do not buy from resale sites. We put the ticket under Tickets, with the shop's code or PDF, and you get a notification and an e-mail.
- What you pay
- When you order, you pay per ticket the shop's price or a maximum you choose yourself, plus our Pre-Buy fee per ticket. The fee is shown on the order screen before you pay (currently € 2.50 per ticket). The amount is charged at once through Stripe and stays with us until the ticket is there. It does not go to the organiser.
- Cheaper
- If the shop asks less than you paid, you get the difference back, right after the purchase.
- Dearer
- If the shop asks more than your maximum, we buy nothing without your go-ahead. You get a request to top up the difference. If you do not, or you cancel, you get everything back. If you wait too long, the tickets may be gone.
- Sold out or not possible
- We do our best, but we do not guarantee a ticket. If it does not work out, for example because it sold out or the shop refuses us, you get the full amount back, fee included, to the way you paid.
- Cancelling
- Cancelling is free until we have bought the ticket: under Tickets you then get everything back. Once the order says 'Buying now', someone of ours is in the shop and cancelling is no longer possible.
- After the purchase
- You then hold a ticket in a name and the terms of the organiser and the shop apply. There is no cooling-off period (see the article on it), and passing it on or reselling it through PartyPPL is not possible, because that would not change the name on the ticket. If the event does not go ahead, we pay you back as soon as the shop pays us back, fee included.
Pre-Buy is only on where we offer it. Organisers who forbid buying for others get no Pre-Buy, and each event has a maximum number of tickets per person and in total. You must be logged in and 18 or older.
Cooling-off for the service. Pre-Buy itself carries the statutory 14-day cooling-off period for services. You can cancel for free until we have bought, also when that is later than 14 days. If the sale opens within 14 days, you expressly ask us when ordering to buy then, and your right of withdrawal ends once the ticket is bought.
15Apps, Wallet, alarms and other extras
- Widgets, Live Activity, the Apple Watch and Apple Wallet show what we know at that moment. The scan at the door is leading, not what a widget or pass shows.
- Alarms ("Wake me") are set by your iPhone itself, based on the times in the agenda. Times can shift; we do not vouch for you waking up on time.
- Translate and Improve in the chat are done by Apple Intelligence on your iPhone. What you send afterwards, you send yourself.
- Apple TV you pair with your account and unpair in your settings. The TV cannot show or buy tickets.
16Availability, maintenance and force majeure
We do our best to keep the platform running, but do not promise uninterrupted availability.
A ticket you opened before stays on your device, so you get in without a connection too. In Apple Wallet it is there without a connection as well.
We may change or stop features. If it concerned something you paid for, we find a reasonable solution.
Force majeure includes in any case outages at Cloudflare, Stripe, Resend, Apple or other suppliers, attacks, power and network failures, strikes, war, fire, floods, epidemics and government measures. Force majeure does not cover what we could reasonably have prevented ourselves. If force majeure lasts longer than 30 days, either of us may end the agreement. What you paid for without receiving anything, we refund.
17Guarantees
What we promise: the service works as described here, and a successful payment gives you a valid ticket that works at the door.
We do not guarantee:
- that the details of an event are correct, also not when AI filled them in;
- that an event goes ahead or an artist plays;
- that tickets are or stay available, also not through resale;
- that prices at other shops or resale markets, or token prices, are correct;
- that the agenda is complete;
- that the platform is free of errors or always reachable.
If you are a consumer, you keep your statutory rights.
18Liability
What we do not organise, we do not answer for. The event, the venue, the line-up, the door and everything on the night itself belong to the organiser. For damage caused by the event, the organiser, the venue, an artist, another shop or another visitor, that party is the one to turn to, not PartyPPL.
- If you are a consumer
- If we fall short of what we promise you in these terms, or act unlawfully, we are liable as the law provides. We do not limit that further than the law allows towards consumers. Damage that comes from yourself, for example because you shared your code, account or QR with someone or entered wrong details, stays at your expense as far as it comes from you.
- If you use PartyPPL for your business
- Then we only compensate direct damage, up to the higher of these two amounts: what you paid us in the twelve months before the damage, or € 500, per event or series of connected events. We do not compensate consequential damage or lost profit. A claim lapses if you do not report it within twelve months after you discovered the damage or could have discovered it. For organisers the organiser terms apply.
No limitation in these terms applies to intent or deliberate recklessness on the part of us or our management, to death or injury, or as far as mandatory law forbids it.
Report damage as soon as you can to [email protected], so we can help limit it.
19Reporting unlawful content
If you see something you think is unlawful, report it with the Report button on a message, forum post, review or photo, or mail [email protected] with "melding" in the subject. That is our point of contact under the Digital Services Act, in Dutch and English.
- By e-mail you get an acknowledgement by the next working day at the latest.
- A person assesses the report, normally within 24 hours, at the latest within five working days.
- If we remove content or suspend an account, we tell the person concerned what we did, why, and what they can do about it.
- Both sides can object within six months at the same address. Someone other than the person who decided looks at it and answers within five working days.
Automated means. Public text gets an automatic score on signals of scams, hate, threats, drug dealing and spam. If the score is high, the text waits until a person has looked at it and you see that it is waiting. Removing and suspending is always done by a person. Also automatic: the import filter for events, rate limits and the fixed price on resale.
The full procedure, with appeals and out-of-court dispute settlement, is on Reports and appeals.
20Suspension and termination
If you break these terms or the house rules, we may remove content and suspend or delete an account. We say why, unless that would harm an investigation or someone's safety.
A suspended account cannot log in. Your tickets stay valid. If the suspension keeps you from your ticket, mail us and we make sure you get in.
You can object through [email protected]. A person looks at it and you hear back within five working days.
You can always stop yourself by deleting your account in Settings. Tickets stay valid as long as they are on your account; what we keep afterwards is in the privacy statement.
21Complaints
A complaint about the platform, an order or a refund? Mail [email protected] with your order number or username and what went wrong.
- Within two working days we confirm we have your complaint.
- Within fourteen days you get a substantive answer. If we need longer, you hear so within that period, with a reason and a new deadline.
- If we cannot resolve it, we say so, so you know you can take it further.
If your complaint is about the event itself or the door, the organiser is the one to talk to. We help you with their details.
If we cannot resolve it together, you can go to court. As a consumer that may be the court where you live; see the article on governing law. If you bought from another EU country, the European Consumer Centre helps you further for free: eccnederland.nl. We are not a member of a disputes committee, but we cooperate on a reasonable solution out of court.
22Governing law and competent court
These terms are governed by Dutch law. The Vienna Sales Convention is excluded. If you live in another EU country as a consumer, you keep the protection of that country's mandatory rules.
Disputes go to the District Court of Oost-Brabant, 's-Hertogenbosch location. As a consumer you may also choose the court of your own place of residence, and we may only summon you there.
For anything about your personal data, you can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority; see the privacy statement.
23Final provisions
- Language
- These terms were written in Dutch. The English version is a translation. Where they differ, the Dutch text prevails.
- Invalidity
- If a provision is invalid, the others still apply and a rule as close as possible to it takes its place.
- Transfer
- We may transfer our rights and obligations, for example in a takeover. We announce that in advance and you can then close your account.
- No waiver
- If we do not enforce something once, we keep the right to do so later.
- Communication
- We reach you by e-mail, in the app and through these pages. Keep your e-mail address up to date.
What changed
- Service fee exactly as charged: € 0.99 per ticket plus 2% of the amount after discount.
- Resale is at the list price of the ticket type, the buyer pays the service fee, and paying the seller is done by hand.
- On resale and transfer the ticket now gets a new code; the previous holder's QR lapses. The QR is not in the confirmation mail.
- Cancellation and postponement described as the platform handles them, including refunds by the organiser itself.
- New: tickets at other shops and resale markets, AI additions, Apple Wallet, alarms, Apple TV and the automatic check of public text.
- New: the checkout screen says above the pay button that there is no cooling-off period.
- New: Pre-Buy, where we buy a ticket in your name the moment the sale opens, with free cancellation until the purchase and everything back if it does not work out.
- Liability rewritten: towards consumers we limit nothing further than the law allows; for business use a maximum and a time limit for claims.
- New: who you buy a ticket from, and our role with tickets at other shops and from an organiser's own shop.
- Complaints: the reference to the closed ODR platform is gone; you can go to court, as a consumer where you live. We announce changes to these terms 30 days ahead.
- New: Cancellations and refunds in plain language, and Reports and appeals for the DSA procedures.
