House rules
What works and what does not in group chats, on the forum, in reviews, reports and photos. In short: all genres, no snobbery, no nonsense.
Last updated: 1 October 20261The starting point
PartyPPL is where people sort out their night. An event's group chat is not an anonymous forum: these are the people standing next to you that same night. Behave accordingly.
These house rules apply to everything you post: chats, forum topics and replies, reviews of venues and nights, reports, questions and answers, photos, token prices, corrections and your profile. They belong to the terms of service.
2What we like to see
- Questions and tips: where to park, how long the queue is, who plays when, is anyone else coming.
- Opinions on music, line-ups and venues, critical ones too. A bad review is not a violation.
- Photos of the night with people on them who are fine with that.
- Helping each other to a ticket with Put on resale, at the list price.
- Reporting mistakes or fixing them yourself, so the agenda is right.
3What is not allowed
- Hate and harassment
- Racism, antisemitism, homophobia and transphobia, sexism, ableism. Threats, stalking, continuing to contact someone who does not want it, or sharing someone's private details. This is where we act fastest and hardest.
- Unwanted sexual advances
- Sexually explicit messages or images, unsolicited advances and anything that crosses a line.
- Ticket scams and touting
- Offering tickets above the list price, offering tickets you do not have, or asking people to pay outside PartyPPL or move to WhatsApp. If you want to get rid of a ticket, use Put on resale.
- Spam and promotion
- Chain messages, repeated advertising, redirects, crypto and fake giveaways. Organisers promote through their own page and through featuring.
- Drug dealing
- Offering or asking. Talking about use, testing and partying safely is fine; we will not become a market.
- Photos without consent
- Recognisable people who do not want to be in them, photos of minors, images you hold no rights to, images that ridicule someone. If someone asks for a photo to come down, it comes down.
- Fake accounts and impersonation
- Pretending to be an artist, club or someone else, or a second account to get round a suspension.
- Illegal content
- Anything criminal. In serious cases we report it to the police.
4The automatic check
Public text gets an automatic score when it is posted, on signals of ticket scams, payment requests, contact details, drug dealing, hate, threats, spam and shouting. How new your account is and whether you just posted the same thing elsewhere count too.
If the score is high, your message waits until a moderator looks at it, and you see that. It is not a verdict: "I have two tickets spare" is perfectly normal, but with a payment link and "text me" it is how people get scammed. Nothing is ever removed automatically and nobody is suspended automatically.
5Reporting something
Every chat message, forum post, review, report, question and answer, photo and profile has Report. You pick one of four reasons: Resale above face value, Inappropriate photo, Spam / duplicate or Hate or harassment. The report goes to the moderation queue and you no longer see what you reported.
The person you report does not see that it was you.
For something serious or urgent, such as a threat, an image of a minor or someone in danger, mail [email protected] with the link right away. In an emergency, call 112.
Just do not want to run into someone any more? Block them from their profile or a chat message, or mute a group chat without leaving it. No moderator is involved.
6What happens after a report
- A person looks at your report, usually within 24 hours.
- We look at the message and at the context: a misunderstanding, a one-off or a pattern.
- We choose a measure and close the report. The person concerned gets a statement of reasons: what we did, why and what they can do about it. What happens to someone else you, as the reporter, do not always hear; that is their privacy.
The measures, from light to heavy:
- Nothing
- The report was unfounded. That happens.
- Removal
- The message, review, report or photo goes.
- Warning
- We tell you what was wrong and what happens if it happens again.
- Suspension
- You can no longer log in. Tickets you already have stay valid; if you cannot get to them, mail us.
- Deletion
- On repeat or for something serious. Criminal matters can be reported to the police.
Organisers can remove a message in the group chat of their own event. It then says "Verwijderd door organisatie". It does not affect your account otherwise.
7Appealing
Think a measure is unfair, or that your message is waiting too long? Mail [email protected] with your username, what was removed or is held and why. You can do that up to six months after the decision.
Someone other than the person who decided looks at it. You hear back within five working days, with an explanation. If we got it wrong, we reverse it.
If you still disagree, you can go to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body under article 21 of the Digital Services Act, or to court. The full procedure is on Reports and appeals.
8Who moderates
PartyPPL's agenda and moderation team. It is a small team, so on a festival weekend it can take a little longer than 24 hours.
Moderators see what they need to assess a report: what was reported and the context. They do not read chats for the sake of it.
How we handle your data: the privacy statement.
What changed
- New: how the automatic check of public text works. It holds messages for a person, it removes nothing.
- The measures are now the ones we can actually take; "temporary restriction" does not exist and is gone.
- Corrected: when reporting you pick one of four reasons; typing an explanation is not possible.
- Ticket rules aligned with the terms: resale at the list price, with Put on resale.
- Whoever gets a measure gets a statement of reasons. The DSA procedures are on Reports and appeals.
- Report is now also on questions, answers and profiles.
