PartyPPL should work for everyone who goes out, also if you have low vision, see colours differently, prefer no motion on your screen or use a screen reader. Here is what we do, how we check it and what is not done yet.

Last updated: 23 September 2026

1What works

  • Dark interface. PartyPPL is dark by default. Prefer light? Choose it in Settings.
  • Contrast. Text reaches at least 4.5:1 (WCAG 2.2 AA), in the dark and in the light theme. With Increase Contrast on your iPhone or iPad, muted text and borders get stronger.
  • Not colour alone. Unread messages, new notifications, sold-out tickets and badges also have text, a shape or bold type, not just a colour.
  • Less motion. With Reduce Motion on, animations, the moving home page, autoplaying video and smooth scrolling are off.
  • Larger text. The iOS app follows your text size up to 310%. From 130% the page stacks rows instead of squeezing them. Up to 200% nothing falls off the screen.
  • Screen reader and keyboard. Headings and landmarks, a Skip to content link, named buttons, dialogs that keep focus and return it where you were, and notifications that are read out.
  • Tapping. Buttons and links are at least 44 by 44 points on a touch screen.
  • The map has an alternative. The same events are in the list and in the calendar of the agenda.

2How we check it

Every change to the site runs automated tests: axe checks the common pages against WCAG 2.2 AA, in both themes and at 200% text, and a separate test computes the contrast of every colour pair we use for text.

3What is not done yet

  • VoiceOver and Voice Control are prepared in the code but not yet tested by hand on an iPhone, iPad and Mac. Until they are, we do not list them in the App Store.
  • The map itself cannot be used with a screen reader. The list and the calendar can.
  • Input field borders have little contrast, except with Increase Contrast on.
  • Payment runs through Stripe and Apple Pay. Those screens are theirs and outside what we can change.
  • Videos and sets that visitors share come from other services and usually have no captions.
