AI at PartyPPL

We use AI to make the agenda complete and readable. This page says, task by task, what the AI does, what a person checks and how you can tell something comes from AI.

1Which AI

On our servers we use Claude by Anthropic, through the API. There is a monthly budget; once it is spent, the AI stops until the next month.

On your iPhone, Apple Intelligence runs on the device itself, only when you ask for it: translating, polishing or summarising a chat message, or reading a flyer. What you send afterwards, you send yourself. None of it passes our servers.

There is no chatbot you talk to. The answers in the help centre come from fixed rules, not from an AI. In the group chats you talk to people.

We make no images with AI. The cover of a news post is drawn from a fixed template.

2What the AI does

Descriptions
When an event has no good text, Claude writes one in Dutch and English from the facts we already have (date, venue, line-up, genres, times). We check the names and numbers in the text against those facts. Such a text carries a line underneath saying it was written with AI.
Genres
Claude helps pick a genre. If it thinks an event is not nightlife, a person decides whether it stays.
Facts from a text
Claude takes the line-up, age limit, times and price from the organiser's description, and only fills in what is still empty.
Poster, map, tickets
Claude searches the organiser's site and shop for the poster, a map, the ticket types and the official shop. A map only goes online after a person approved it. A poster and a shop link go online without a check beforehand; if something is wrong, report it.
Token prices
For festivals, Claude looks up the price of a drink token. Until a visitor reports a price, it says Found by Claude, not confirmed yet.
The team
Our team also works with Claude through our own admin connection, to write descriptions, line-ups, set times, artist profiles, venue information and news posts. Every change is recorded with the source it came from and who made it.

3The rules we give the AI

  • Make nothing up. A name that is not on the source's line-up does not go on it. An empty field is better than a wrong one.
  • A person comes first. What an organiser, an artist or someone on the team typed in, the AI does not overwrite.
  • Only public data about events. Nothing about you goes to Claude: no account, no chats, no tickets, no visitor data. What does go is public: the event, the venue, the artists and the organiser.
  • Everything can be traced. We keep every question to Claude and every answer for six months in a log, without visitor data.

4How you can tell what comes from AI

  • Under a description Claude wrote: This text was written with AI from what we know about this event.
  • With a token price from Claude: Found by Claude, not confirmed yet.
  • Prices at other shops are shown as an indication, with the source and the day they were seen.

Genres, a poster and a shop link that Claude found get no label of their own. An AI text can contain mistakes; the organiser is leading, see the terms of service.

5Something wrong?

Report it through Something wrong or mail info@partyppl.nl. A person looks at it. If you are the organiser or the artist, correct it yourself in the portal; what you enter stays.

Which data we use for the AI and for how long is in the privacy statement. Anthropic is on the list of subprocessors.
